Collaborate with the SJSU Engineer Team and the San Jose Christmas In The Park Team.
Client: Keith Peffer (Christmas in the Park)
We developed a new display concept for Christmas in the Park aimed at connecting more with Gen Z audiences while improving the countdown clock logic for future seasons. The story centers on a team of elves repairing the countdown clock, blending character narrative with mechanical motion.
The engineering team develops the motion system, and my role focuses on designing the elves and creating their personalities and backstories.
We selected five elves representing a wide range of body proportions to support the engineering team in developing appropriately scaled engine housing. The variation in size and form allowed for more accurate spatial planning and structural integration.
The team of elves was intentionally designed with diverse characteristics, representing multiple generations, from Gen X to Gen Alpha, including a female elf to ensure broader representation and personality diversity within the display.
3 elves will be built: Ginger, Tomy, and Tee-Hee
